The Gamakatsu SC17 is our favorite tarpon hook. The hook is black nickle, chemically sharpened and super strong.
The design allows angler to present a smaller profile fly, but still have the strength needed to hang on to a very large Tarpon. The SC17 features a short, stout shank with an eye turned up ever so slightly to put the direction of pull in line with its’ sticky sharp beak point. The SC17 also has a very wide gap to help hold the fish once the battle begins.
We carry these in sizes 2/0 and 3/0 with 10 hooks per package.
