Many anglers coming to this area ask us what to expect when fly fishing on our trips into the 10,000 Islands. The Everglades is undeniably tough fishing, but not without rewards for anglers of every ability and expectation.
The 10k has a diverse population of saltwater species from tarpon to tripletail to trout, providing for an element of surprise with every strip of your line. Wind, tides and weather along with the seasonal migration of fish make every day different with a fresh set of challenges. We fly fish Naples, Marco Island, Everglades and waters around Goodland.
This is not the gin clear water you find in the Keys looking for bonefish but rather tannin colored water originating in "the river of grass" that holds redfish, snook and tarpon in the bays and outflows of the Everglades that Zane Grey wrote about in his well noted book “Tales of Southern Rivers”.
If you are looking for a saltwater fly fishing destination in one of the most distinctive and beautiful locations on earth, come fly fish the 10k.
What to bring on your trip:
Rain jacket, hat,
Long sleeve shirt & pants,
Light colored soled deck or boat shoes
Polarized sunglasses, preferably with copper lenses
We furnish fly rods, leaders and flies along with your fishing license.
We also provide a water, soda and ice for all our trips.
You are welcome to bring your own fly fishing equipment or use ours. Make sure you bring a good
camera as there are lots of photo and sightseeing opportunities as we travel through the Islands. We
frequently see dolphin, manatees, alligators, loggerhead turtles and many unique species of birds.
We ask that you provide a $100 deposit to reserve your trip. If the trip is canceled due to extreme weather, a full refund will be issued or we will reschedule if possible. If you cancel 30 days before the trip, a full refund will be issued. If you cancel within 30 days of fishing and we are unable to rebook the reservation, I will hold the deposit and apply it to a future trip for up to one year of the original booking - after that it is forfeited. We will make every effort to rebook any days canceled.
Drop me a note at email@example.com should you have any questions on available days or a current fishing report.
